So... I barely did a thing this week. After a lot of thought over the last few weeks, I've decided to abandon the recipes for this website. I also think I’m going to get rid of the shopping list feature for registered users. It’s just going to be too much trouble to maintain.
Last week, I was talking about the direction I wanted to take with Wisedocks. Should I make the site more user-oriented, or just add things I like and let the world decide if they like it too? For now, I’ve chosen the latter. At the end of the day, this is just a hobby site for me, and I don’t want to add features that might cause trouble later. If I keep the shopping list, people will inevitably have issues or want more features. I don’t want to deal with the interactivity. I just want a place where I can share what I like, and if someone finds it interesting—awesome! But I want to leave it at that.
My motivation to work on the site ebbs and flows. Sometimes I’ll spend 60 hours a week working on it for months, and then I’ll stop and barely check it for weeks at a time. Having features that cater to people's daily lives won’t work well for me or anyone else in the long run.
Since I didn't work on the recipes, I spent time trying to find bugs on the site, but couldn't spot any. Everything seems fine, so I played games all week instead. I also wrote another chapter of Lost in Arkansas, but barely touched the site otherwise—until yesterday. I started on a fun new project!
I’m currently adapting my AI image setup to create a wallpaper page for the site. It’ll work almost exactly like the AI images page but will allow you to download full-size images for use as wallpaper. It’s about 90% done, but I need to do some more testing before I roll it out. I’m heading back to work today, so it’ll probably be live next week. If you’re crafty and on a PC, you could probably find it easily. Technically, it’s live now.
Originally, I wanted to make the AI images into a wallpaper gallery, but I got sidetracked. Since I already have so many images up, I’ve decided to leave it alone for now. That said, all the AI images would work great as wallpaper on your phone if you want to use them for that.
So, for the foreseeable future, that’s what Wisedocks will be: Quotes, Blog, AI Images, and Wallpapers. I’ll keep the fake tip and WebP conversion pages too. I’ll probably create a page for all those niche tools and features, so they don’t clutter up the menu. The "Buy Stuff" page can go there too—I add cool Amazon finds whenever I come across them.
I’ll keep throwing stuff at the wall and see what sticks. One day, I’ll figure out what I want to do with this site. Who knows, maybe I’m already doing it.
