Dave & Buster's

Yesterday, I was starving. I hadn't eaten in nearly 24 hours. I spent my day off working on this website. When I'm coding, I get so focused that I forget where I am and what day it is. But when I found out my girlfriend had the day off too, I thought, "Alright, let's go out to eat; I'm starving."

After running a few errands, we finally decided on Dave & Buster's. The bar chairs are comfortable, and the food is pretty damn good. We hadn't been there in over six months, but the bartender immediately recognized us when we hopped up to the bar.

He said, "Hey, I haven't seen you two in a while; what's going on?" That's an excellent quality to have in a bartender. There’s no way I could remember faces that well. We've only been there maybe five or six times total over two years, yet he always remembers us. I am a decent tipper, so that may be how he remembers me.

I'm an Idiot

I ate a double cheeseburger and fries, along with two beers. That's my standard meal when I dine out. But a couple of ladies sat beside us and ordered some crazy-looking nachos. They looked so good. The next time the bartender swung around and asked if I was ready for my third beer, I should have said, "No, check, please."

But instead, I said, "Yes, and I want some of the nachos too."

Those nachos came on a sizeable, shareable tray. My girlfriend couldn't even finish her chicken pasta plate. I don't know what it was called, but I wolfed down the other half of her meal because she said it was too spicy. The spice was pepper. Freaking white girls.

Just about the time I finished her plate, the nachos arrived. I talked my "Pepper is too spicy" girlfriend into eating a jalapeño from the nachos. I wish I had taken a picture of that face.

I still managed to knock out 90% of the nachos and had another beer or two. I want to say I drank four beers, but I ate so much food that I barely got a buzz. I seriously thought I was going to throw up.

Miserable, I went home, talked myself out of throwing up for about two hours, and finally passed out on the couch.

New Features

I finally started tinkering with the front end of FartDump a bit. I built some dynamic pages for the AI images on the homepage. Now you can click on the pictures, and it will take you to a page where you can see a larger image and download it if you like.

I also added suggested posts to the blog, as shown below. If you’re on a computer, I have a dark theme toggle button at the top of the site. I'll be adding it for smaller screens eventually. It's on the list.

The List

Speaking of the list, I built a bug and feature tracker into the admin panel. The bug tracker itself is very buggy, lol. I'm still learning JavaScript and attempting to edit things inline and move the bugs from Open to Closed as I fix them. The code usually works okay, but if you try to do too much, the listeners go crazy.

I've added quite a few features to the new post interface. I can now save posts as drafts as I work on them. Once a post is published, it writes itself to the sitemap.

I've finally started the settings interface for setting site variables and other goodies. Moving the software to other domains will be much more straightforward, which is the end game here. Most sane people build websites offline, and once they're ready to go, they upload them.

I like live editing and always have. It's just easier; the site may go down quite often, but this is FartDump—who cares, right?

Honestly, the worst bug on the site at the moment is the bug tracker, which I find hilarious. I'll figure it out eventually. But for now, I'll take a bike ride on this beautiful morning. Later.
