What a crazy year so far

2025 is really showing its ass. I burned out hard at the end of 2024 and stepped away from my websites. By February, I wasn't creating anything for any of them. I follow politics pretty closely and had plenty of chances to write about it, but usually passed. Same reason South Park doesn't make fun of the orange man anymore, I’m tired of taking the bait. So what have I been up to?

Death

My girlfriend's mom, who was living with us, passed away a few weeks ago. She woke us up in the middle of the night violently vomiting. It turned out she had sepsis, and her kidneys failed. She survived five more days after that. It's crazy how fast it all happened.

Burnout

I've been massively burned out at work too. I've nearly quit several times over the last few months, but in the end, I decided to stay. I just can't walk away from the pay and the killer schedule. The work is hard, but with full benefits and four days off, I'd be nuts to trade that for a 9-to-5 grind. It's like being on vacation most of the time. I'm going to ride this roller coaster until the wheels fall off.

Foreclosure, Finally!

I lost my house recently, and honestly, I’m glad. Let me explain.

For most of my adult life, I wanted to get out of my tiny hometown, but my wife didn’t want to uproot the kids. I understood, but I still brought it up all the time, usually met with sighs and rolled eyes. That all changed nine years ago when she left me. I took it hard at first, but after about a year, I realized, "Holy shit, I can finally move." The youngest kids only had a few years of school left, and they were living with her, so I was free.

The company I worked for had a location in Arkansas, near where my brother lived. He’s the one who pushed me to finally go for it. So I transferred and started trying to sell my house. That's when a friend suggested I rent it out instead. He even had someone in mind, a friend of his named Clarissa, someone I sort of knew through the grapevine. She was thrilled. I offered her a rent-to-own option because I had zero plans to ever move back. She was even more thrilled. We set it up with a handshake agreement and off I went.

She managed to screw up the deal within the first year by missing a payment. After I reminded her you can’t just skip mortgage payments, she did a decent job of keeping up, for about seven years. I even added her to the online account so she could make payments directly. No rent, no profit... just make the payments.

Then at the end of 2023, she basically stopped paying.

I think she figured out that if she threw a little money at it every few months, the mortgage company wouldn't foreclose. I tried selling the house in 2024, but every potential buyer said the same thing: "Get the tenant out first." Based on how she started blatantly lying to me, I knew that was going to be a miserable and expensive fight.

So I chose the lesser evil. I removed her from the account, stopping her from making random payments and dragging things out, and let the foreclosure process begin. My credit was already nuked from the late payments, so what was another torpedo?

She wouldn’t even give me her phone number so we could talk, only texting me through Facebook Messenger. Over the last six months, she didn’t make a single payment. Now she’s suddenly panicking. She even tried going behind my back to my ex-wife, handing over her number and begging her to intervene. My ex sent me the messages first, and I filled her in on all the crap this tenant had pulled.

When that didn’t work, the tenant started talking to herself in my Facebook messages, pretending to negotiate with me. It’s pathetic.

I'm screwed for the next seven years. My ex will struggle to get a car loan she desperately needs. Meanwhile, Clarissa will just hop into another rental like nothing happened. And I'm supposed to feel sorry for her? She can get fucked. I hope she ends up homeless.

I’m not responding to her messages. In fact, the only reason I even put Messenger back on my phone was to sell some crap from my storage unit. Once that’s done, Meta’s gone too. So fuck Zuck... and fuck you, Clarissa.

Still Going...

Other than that, I'm doing well. I've been trying to lose some weight but every time I work out, I mess my back up and I'm down for several days. So that's a thing now, lol. I’ve been playing tons of Farming Simulator 22. Still not ready to shell out $50 for the newest version. I’ll probably wait until the holiday sales.
